An Invitation to a better Nation

PrintCONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE 12 Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago, Phone: 662-1067/663-6522/662-8063 Email: winstondookerangmail.com ,Website: www.congresstnt.com January 02, 2008 An Invitation to a Better Nation We share the love for our country, the hope for a better nation, and a commitment to a place we call home. Trinidad and Tobago with its beauty, culture and people is a country bursting with potential, yet over the years we have shared grief seeing our nation deteriorate. After forty five years of independence, we continue to face daunting social problems. The post- independence upheavals of 1970 and 1990, and the renewal of unrest in 2005 leave us to wonder about our political future. Despite economic wealth we have failed to stabilize a diverse population and meet its basic needs. Inequities in income and opportunity have forced deep cracks into society and every year more and more of our citizens are being left behind. We cannot expect fair, honest and good governance from the PNM and we know that the UNC could do no better with its discredited leadership. Crime and high prices did not come about by guess; they are the direct result of mismanagement and poor government. There is a lack of moral and political will to ensure proper standards are maintained in all areas of public life. We know that we are dealing with a society that is threatening to become a “failed society” unless we rescue it. 148,000 of us voted in the last election in an attempt to rescue our country. By any standard that was a remarkable achievement of which we should be proud. If in the first attempt we could do that well, there is every justification for us to build the party and be prepared to contest forthcoming elections. Since the general elections we have restructured the administration, established six regional offices and are now in the process of looking for new headquarters. The Secretariat is now relocated at the office of the Political Leader at 12 Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna. A Youth and Conference Centre will be established at the office of the former MP for Chaguanas on Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville. Rentals and staff, although minimal, are to be paid. Funds are needed for the general running of these offices as well as some advertising and canvassing that will come up in 2008. We need your help to continue the work. A small monthly, quarterly or annual contribution to your party will go a long way in ensuring our survival, which is essential. Your political leader and his team are committed to our survival and success in the next election. Attached is the Procedure for Contributions and the Record Form. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, POLITICAL LEADER êbi. cop Procedure for Contributions Contributions may be made directly to any of our collection accounts by way of standing orders, deposit of cheque or cash to any branch of RBTT and Republic Bank Limited.
